Cambridge Common, Christopher's Restaurant and West Side Lounge

Informn for Exatiohibiting Artists

• Cambridge Common, Christopher's Restaurant and West Side Lounge are three different and very interesting establishments, with unique spaces that grant a lot of exposure for artwork. There is no fee for exhibiting in these establishments, nor do the restaurants take a commission from any work sold as a result of an exhibition.
• I am an artist who is hired to book artists for exhibition. Therefore I, nor the restaurants, represent any artists.
• Depending on the establishment, you will need a certain number of pieces
(West Side = 11 pieces, Cambridge Common & Christopher's Restaurant = 12-14 pieces) as there are a set number of lighting fixtures. The light fixtures are unchangeable.
• We (the restaurants/I) prefer not to hang work smaller than 18" x 24", nor to have any work framed behind glass.
• Artwork is scheduled for exhibitions of ~ 6 weeks.
• I hang the show with you, that way we both plan where the pieces go and the overall cohesion of the show.
• Any selling is between the artist and the buyer; I do not take a commission, and the restaurants do not take a commission.
• You can price your work however you like.
• Please have labels for each piece with the artwork's information (title, medium, date created) as well as your info (name/email). You can include prices on the labels, or have a separate price list and/or artist statement. Business cards are also helpful, but not mandatory. The restaurant will be happy to hang your bio information, and it often adds to the interest in the work.
• All pieces of artwork need to have a wire across the back (of each) for ready-to-hang ease. We hang work from a wire that drops down from a beam (not hooks or nails).
• The artwork is insured for theft and fire; there is a $1,000.00 deductible. The restaurant(s) will not be responsible for damage, theft, or fire under $1000.
• The restaurants do not provide openings for new shows, but please feel free to invite people to see your work. If you are interested in having a reception, you are encouraged to speak with one of the managers to plan something through them.
• All three restaurants are very busy year-round. Because they are not typical 'gallery' spaces, there is a certain amount of risk that accompanies hanging work in a busy restaurant. We (the restaurants/I) are extremely diligent to keep your work clean and safe at all times. With that, there is an Artist-Restaurant Agreement to be signed by you, and by me, prior to and/or at the installation of your exhibition.

  1. Abbey,

    Thanks for posting this!

Also, you can count on G and I for your opening plus at least two more. The opening idea makes good sense for all shows, and I am looking forward to it.

    Have a great week,
    Brian
